My Story
Nathaniel Bernecker is a New York-based cellist, orchestra musician, recording artist, and music contractor. He has appeared at prestigious venues around the New York City area, such as Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, New York City Center, Manhattan School of Music’s Neidorff-Karpati Hall, 54-Below, and many other venues around the city. He performs frequently with the Mannes School of Music's orchestra and has also performed with the NYC Orchestra Project, Protestra, and various chamber music groups.
He began studying the cello at the age of 8, under the tutelage of Pennsylvania cellist Adam Hansen. Nathaniel graduated from the Mannes School of Music, where he studied with Yehuda Hanani. While at Mannes, he has served as both principal and assistant principal of the school's orchestra. His other teachers have included Evangaline Benedetti of the New York Philharmonic, Jeffrey Zeigler of the Kronos Quartet, and Diego Fainguersch of the Buenos Aires Philharmonic.
